CORNWALL, Ontario – A routine disturbance call led Cornwall police to a disturbing case of domestic violence in the city’s east end on Tuesday afternoon.

During an argument with his 22-year-old common-law wife at their apartment, a 24-year-old Cornwall man allegedly damaged interior doors, slashed her car tires and threatened her.

The suspect is also being accused of assaulting their three-year-old son.

During the incident police were called to investigate.

Const. Daniel Cloutier was unable to confirm if the complaint was made by the woman or a neighbour.

The man was charged with mischief, threats, assault and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.

Cloutier said the infant did not require medical attention and is in good health.

The suspect was held for a bail hearing.

No names were released to protect the victim’s identity.
