Cornwall Herbal Magic store escapes mass closures

CORNWALL, Ontario – A Cornwall weight-loss store is not part of a massive corporate shutdown.

Herbal Magic Cornwall owner Carrie Labelle said in an interview it is business as usual at her operation and said she was more than a little upset that previous reports on the subject in other media made it seem like all of the stores were closing.

“My phone has been ringing off the hook,” she said. “The chief financial officer told us everything remains the same. We are still going to be getting all of our products.”

But nationaly-speaking the chain is in trouble.

The company’s operations in eastern Canada were put into bankruptcy recently, though 41 stores in the western part of the country would be taken over by a secured lender and continue operating, according to a CBC report.

Oh, and Cornwall’s operation is still going strong.

“We are not a corporate store,” said Labelle. “It doesn’t affect us, what is happening right now.”
