CORNWALL, Ontario – Throughout the month of October, the Cornwall Community Police Service (CCPS) received multiple reports of break & enters to commercial & retail businesses within the City of Cornwall. An extensive investigation was conducted by the Criminal Investigations Division, resulting in the following arrest:
Shaine Robertson, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on Oct. 31, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. He was also charged with the following:
- Robbery with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Disguise with intent x 6
- Break and enter x 6
- Possession of break-in instrument x two
- Breach of probation x seven (failing to keep the peace)
It is alleged the man breached his probation and a warrant was issued for his arrest. It is further alleged throughout the month of October, the man forced his way into multiple businesses in the City of Cornwall; on five occasions concealing his identity, and on two occasions using an object to gain entry. On Oct. 24, 2018, the man allegedly attended a Vincent Massey Drive business, concealing his identity, and demanded money while brandishing a knife. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Oct. 31, 2018, police located the man. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing.
