CORNWALL, Ontario – The Early ON Child and Family Centre in Cornwall is inviting new moms to come by and participate in a worldwide breastfeeding challenge this Saturday, Sept. 29.

The Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge takes place annually with the goal of setting a worldwide record for the most amount of women breastfeeding at the same time.

The goal of the event is to promote the benefits of breastfeeding.

“We celebrate breastfeeding and talk about the importance of breastfeeding,” said Family Centre Manager Laurie Legue.

“It creates a sense of community and normality around breastfeeding,” said Diane Labrecque, Communications Coordinator with the Early ON Child and Family Centre in Cornwall.

Mothers are invited to the Family Centre in Cornwall at 130 Sydney St. for 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. The Family Centre team will help make sure that all moms are latched on by 11 a.m. when the challenge starts.

The Cornwall Family Centre usually sees between eight and 12 moms participate annually.

For mom’s attending this year, there will be prizes including stackable baby food containers, a book of baby’s 100 first words,  stuffed animals and music in French and English.
