CORNWALL, Ontario – Note to axe-wielding attackers: be careful where you swing that thing.

A Cornwall woman has been charged with assault with a weapon following an altercation in Prescott where she tried to hit another person with an axe.

But that didn’t stop her from calling police and reporting that she was in fact being assaulted by an axe-wielding attacker.

Police didn’t buy it, and determined the Cornwall woman was in fact holding the axe and injured herself while swinging it during the course of an attack she authored.

The attack took place Sunday at about 2 a.m.

The 19-year-old Cornwall woman is to appear in Brockville court at a later date. No names were released.
