CORNWALL, Ontario – The victim of a fatal head-on crash between a car and a dump truck on Boyne Road has been identified as an 83-year-old North Stormont man.
SD&G OPP say Carmel Donn Smirl succumbed to injuries Thursday (June 4) after his westbound Ford vehicle collided with an oncoming dump truck on the two-lane highway in North Dundas.
The dump truck driver, a 61-year-old South Dundas man, sustained minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.
Provincial police, assisted by OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI), are investigating the cause of the accident.
A section of Boyne Road, between Belanger Road and Kittle Road, was closed to traffic for several hours, and reopened around 7 p.m.
