DOUBLE TROUBLE: Crossbow, bat incidents net charges against local men
Cornwall Police Service (CPS) blotter update.

CORNWALL, Ontario – Things took a turn for the surreal in Cornwall when a pair of men were charged following separate incidents involving a baseball bat…and a crossbow.

Cornwall police said Gerard Cook, 52, of Cornwall was arrested after a man struck another individual with a bat during an argument Jan. 9. Police did not say if the 56-year-old victim was injured.

Cook faces charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation and recognizance for failing to keep the peace. He was held for a bail hearing.

If the bat attack wasn’t enough police said an intoxicated man entered a Cornwall Second Street East business and pointed a crossbow at an employee.

Daniel Ouellette, 61 of Cornwall was arrested Jan. 13 and charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The incident took place Dec. 17. The man was asked to leave and police were contacted to investigate. Ourellette appears in court Feb. 16.
