CORNWALL, Ontario – Downtown will be full of Christmas cheer on Saturday night for the annual Santa Claus parade.
Some businesses are staying open late, others have some special promotions going on and there will be plenty of free holiday treats to enjoy.
“In the courtyard there will be free photos with Santa, free hot chocolate and cookies, and later in evening we will have a laser show and free light-up rings for the kids,” said Angele Pommier of Pommier Jewellers.
Across the street Love Love Food will also be offering some free hot chocolate to parade watchers.
“We’re going to re-open from five until about nine,” said owner Tony Lacroix. “We’re offering free hot chocolate, with a jar accepting donations to Big Broithers and Big Sisters. Also it’s the launch of our holiday treats abs chocolates.”
The 44th edition of the parade will be kick off at 5 p.m. at St. Lawrence Secondary School on Second Street East and proceed west to Augustus Street. The floats will turn south on Augustus Street and unload their passengers into waiting buses to be taken to the Civic Complex for award presentations and hot treats.
“This will provide more room so everyone can come inside and warm up and the parking at the Civic Complex will provide a safe area to pick up the parade participants,” said Terry Muir, one of the event organizers.
