CORNWALL, Ontario – A suspected small-time drug operation near a Cornwall high school has been shut down after a police raid on Monroe Avenue this Tuesday.
The Cornwall Street Crime Unit with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team executed a drug warrant at about 7:35 p.m.
Cornwall Community Police Service Const. Daniel Cloutier told Seaway News distraction devices were used, causing a loud explosion sound, as officers surrounded the small dead-end street off Sydney Street.
According to police, officers seized a quantity of cocaine, marijuana, and Canadian and U.S. currency.
Vincent Bryan was arrested at the scene.
The 62-year-old suspect was taken into custody and charged with possession of cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana, and property obtained by crime.
The man was released to appear in a Cornwall court on November 10.
While the drug raid unfolded, the nearby Cornwall Collegiate Vocational School (CCVS) was placed under a ‘hold and secure’ for safety reasons.
