UNITED COUNTIES OF SD&G, Ontario – Environment Canada announced a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Cornwall and SD&G on the morning of Friday, Aug. 4.
“There is the potential for severe thunderstorms to develop this afternoon and this evening,” the statement from Environment Canada reads.”Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”
Environment Canada has issued Thunderstorm Watches across much of Southern and Eastern Ontario.
