CORNWALL, Ontario – With a little help from the Gatineau force, city police officers picked up a Cornwall man wanted for violating a no-contact order after he allegedly messaged his ex-girlfriend on Facebook.

Gatineau officers arrested the 34-year-old on a Cornwall warrant Wednesday (September 9). Later that day, a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service made the trek to the nearby Quebec police HQ.

CCPS says the suspect messaged the 40-year-old woman throughout August on the social media site, despite being on conditions not to communicate with her.

The man was taken into custody, and charged with breaching his probation for having contact with his ex-girlfriend as well as breaching two probation orders for failing to keep the peace. He was held for a bail hearing.

No names were released to protect the victim’s identity.
