LANCASTER, Ontario – Randy Robertson probably never knew he had so many brothers…or maybe he did.
South Glengarry firefighters from the Lancaster station are organizing a benefit for their comrade who was involved in a rollover accident while responding to a call Feb. 6.
Robertson was lucky to escape the accident alive, but now finds himself with a slew of serious injuries and remains hospitalized in Ottawa.
Deputy fire chief Mike Leger, who is chairing the benefit organizing committee, said firefighters are lining up to help.
“I had 16 guys looking to help,” Leger said of the tidal wave of support. “I had to tell some of the guys they wouldn’t be on the committee.”
But that hasn’t stopped everyone from pitching in.
The South Glengarry Station 4 Firefighter Association will be hosting a spaghetti supper fundraiser as well as a silent auction for Robertson on Sunday, Feb. 21, at the Legion Hall in Lancaster from 4 to 7 p.m.
Organizers said any monetary donation can be made to the firefighter association and all funds donated will be given directly to Robertson.
