ONTARIO – The province of Ontario is kicking off their Free Family Fishing week on Saturday, July 3. Starting on Saturday and running to July 11, residents across the province will be allowed to fish without the need for a license or an Outdoors card.
“Fishing is a time-honoured tradition and terrific way for families to spend time together,” said Greg Rickford, Minister of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry. “I hope everyone in Ontario is able to head down to a lake or river and take part in Free Fishing Week, this year.”
The province is reminding residents to respect COVID-19 regulations under Step Two of the province’s re-opening plan.
The public is also asking fishers to respect the following:
- Following conservation licence catch limits
- Obeying size limits and sanctuaries
- Following all other fishing regulations and rules.
