CORNWALL & SDG, Ontario – Environment Canada issued a weather statement for the following areas early this morning:
Cornwall – Lancaster
Maxville – Alexandria
Morrisburg – Long Sault
Winchester – Newington
Precipitation associated with a strong low-pressure system may generate snow Saturday evening which could quickly transition into freezing rain into Sunday morning. Blowing snow may develop Sunday evening.
Environment Canada’s current analysis predicts that 5 to 10 cm of snow and ice pellets will accumulate by Monday morning.
In addition to precipitation, strong winds may develop Sunday evening into Monday afternoon, reaching 70 km/h.
Visibility may be suddenly and significantly reduced, making travel potentially hazardous. Surfaces such as highways, walkways and roads may also become slippery.
