CORNWALL, Ontario – Costumed community members made their way to the Transylvania Bash on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1400 Vincent Massey Dr.
About 250 supporters were expected at the second annual bash, where they could receive themed potion drinks, lounge in a haunted, Victorian style setting and dance the night away to classic Halloween tunes. Tickets were $40 per person and $70 per couple. The event ran from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
All funds raised throughout the Haunted Walk and Transylvania Bash will be donated to Beyond 21, Bereaved Families of Cornwall and Rachel’s Kids. Last year, a total of $15,000 was donated, amounting to $5,000 towards three local charities.
“Each year is going to be a different theme,” said Mike Turcotte, Ghost Walk Chairman.
According to Turcotte, a majority of the furniture and set was created by volunteers, specifically for the event, including a grand fireplace and mantel, and a long dining table. Volunteers decorated over 25,0002 ft. for the Haunted Walk.
Turcotte said that the turnout for the Haunted Walk was incredible this year.
“I’m really glad that the people of Cornwall are supporting this,” he said. “It’s a really good, fun event and all the money goes to charity…”
Despite the Haunted Walk ending on Oct. 26, Turcotte said that several individuals showed up thinking that it was still on until Halloween.
“Maybe that’s something to think about for next year,” said Turcotte, contemplating extending the Walk dates.
