CORNWALL, Ontario – Scientists in Cornwall have a new tool to assess the impacts of storm water runoff and discharge from industrial sites, courtesy of Greyline Instruments Inc.
The Long Sault company recently donated a flow meter to the River Institute of Environmental Sciences.
“The River Institute is a prime research facility that needs sophisticated equipment for its work, and Greyline manufactures the instruments required for flow measurement right here in Eastern Ontario,” said Higginson.
Dr. Jeff Ridal said the flow meter will also be used to understand the spatial patterns of contaminants in sediments and to help the institute characterize fish habitat and identify sites suited for species rehabilitation.
“We are very grateful for this donation,” said Ridal.
