Iroquois dam gates closed indefinitely
The Iroquois Dam will remain closed until further notice.

IROQUOIS, Ontario – Ontario Power Generation (OPG) have closed the dam gates at the Iroquois dam indefinitely as of Tuesday, April 16.

“The gates are being closed for water management purposes and will be unavailable indefinitely,” an OPG press statement reads. “Residents and boaters should exercise caution on the St. Lawrence River, as water flows are higher during this time of year.”

The Iroquois dam was closed in the spring of 2017 to deal with high water levels that year as well, and remained closed for most of that summer.

OPG would also like to remind residents to stay safe around water ways and would refer the public to the following information here.
