Morrisburg, Ontario – It’s All About the River on Saturday, July 15. From 10 am to 2pm the Morrisburg Waterfront will play host to one of Eastern Ontario’s area’s signature summer events. The It’s All About the River festival will focus on St. Lawrence River education, recreation, the environment and fun!  This family friendly event is free and will take place along the shores of the Great St. Lawrence River in the beautiful community of Morrisburg, Ontario.

Organized by a keen committee of community volunteers and led by long time champion of both South Dundas and the River, Geraldine Fitzsimmons, this group has set its sights on celebrating the Great St. Lawrence.  Sponsored in part by South Nation Conservation with support from the municipality of South Dundas, this event will highlight environmental, educational, and recreational booths, demonstrations, information, arts and crafts, food, fun, and so much more.

Committee Chair, Geraldine Fitzsimmons says, “This event celebrates our beautiful St. Lawrence River and the many benefits it brings to our community. The St. Lawrence River is one of the greatest assets that the Municipality of South Dundas has to offer.”  She adds, “We want to ensure that we protect, preserve and enjoy this natural treasure for today and for generations to come.”

Festival participants providing activities include South Nation Conservation, Wetlands Canada, Plenty Canada, the RCMP zodiac, the Canadian Coast Guard, Save The River (Clayton, New York), Transition Cornwall+, the Cornwall and Area Birding Club, Glass On the River, The River Institute, Seaway Valley Crime Stoppers, and many more.

The official opening will take place at 10 am with special guests MP Eric Duncan and MPP Nolan Quinn on hand to cut the ribbon.
