Acting Chief of Police Lee-ann O'brien officially gave the new Chief of Police Shawn Dulude his badge.

AKWESASNE – Shawn Dulude was sworn in as the new chief od the Akwesasne Mohawk Police (AMP) on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

Dulude is taking over from acting chief Lee-ann O’brien and will officially begin his duties on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

“I’m really honored to have been chosen as your new chief of police and I will not disappoint anyone in this room or the community especially,” said Dulude.

Mohawk Council of Akwesasne staff, the Akwesasne Police Commission and representatives from local and regional police departments were on hand to welcome Dulude into his new job.

O’brien took over as Actibg Police Chief from former AMP Chief  Jerry Swamp in March. Swamp had been Police Chief since 2009.
