Voting: What you need to know

CORNWALL, Ontario – There is still time to get out and vote.

This election in Cornwall promises to see a high voter turnout, if advanced polls are any indication.

Election day polls opened at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 22 and will stay open until 8 p.m.

Voters can cast their ballots at any one of the following locations:

  1. Benson Centre, 800 Seventh Street West
  2. Cornwall SDG Paramedic Services Building, 601 Campbell Street
  3. Cornwall Square Shopping Centre, 1 Water Street East
  4. Eamer’s Corners Public School, 2258 Pitt Street
  5. École élémentaire publique Rose des Vents, 1650 Second Street East
  6. Cornwall Election Headquarters, 159 Pitt Street
  7. École secondaire catholique La Citadelle , 510 McConnell Avenue
  8. Sacred Heart Catholic School, 1500 Cumberland Street
  9. St. Lawrence College, 2 St. Lawrence Drive

The City of Cornwall claims to have worked to make all locations accessible and barrier free, this includes having audio headsets, paddles and sip-and-puff devices to help voters cast their ballot.

All eligible voters should have received an orange voter card. If a voter has their card, they merely have to presenting at a polling place to be allowed to vote.

If an eligible voter has not received their card, then they can present two valid pieces of identification that include their photo and address, a driver’s license and a passport for example.
