CORNWALL, Ontario – Reading can really take you places, and not just in the sense that each book is an adventure.

From July 3 to Aug. 31, kids age 0 to 10 can ride Cornwall Transit for free with a guardian, who also rides free, if they have their summer Read to Ride library card from the Cornwall Library. Children aged 11 to 13 can also ride for free with this program along with one friend.

The Read to Ride program is in its eleventh year this year. Kids can get their library car from the Cornwall Library starting on July 3. Read to Ride library cards will have a green transit logo in the top left corner.

“This program is a win, win, win,” said Len Tapp, division manager of Cornwall Transit. “We’re encouraging readership and literacy, as well as ridership. The library card becomes a bus pass for the summer.”

The Read to Ride program also coincides with the TD Summer Reading Club. Through participating in the club and through reading the TD Summer Reading Club offers some great titles to enjoy and some fantastic prizes to win.

There will be a party for the TD Summer Reading Club on Aug. 23 at the Cornwall Civic Complex, Salon B from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
