CORNWALL, Ontario – The City of Cornwall has announced that they will be opening the BMO building, 159 Pitt St. to the public during the Art Walk on Thursday, July 26.
“This opportunity will be the first of many that will occur before renovations begin to convert the classic structure into the Arts and Culture Centre of the City of Cornwall,” the City states in a press release. “This and subsequent occasions are designed to gain insight into the possibilities people envision for the Arts Centre. The architectural sketches contained in the feasibility study by VG+ Architects will be displayed, survey forms will be available and plenty of blank paper will be on hand to capture the public’s ideas, caveats and proposals. City staff and members of the Collective for the Centre for the Arts will be on hand to answer questions and facilitate responses. “
The City further states that it will open the building to the public whenever possible and that it will consider public input before a concrete plan is formed.
Starting on Sept. 3, the old BMO building will be used as the City’s election office headquarters and the building will be continously accessible to the public from that date until after election day on Oct. 22.
The Art Walk begins at 6 p.m. and goes to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 26.
