CORNWALL, Ontario – The Renegade Bass Tour held its second qualifier competition of 2018 at Lake Saint Francis on Saturday, July 7.

“We run one of the biggest tournament series in Canada. We have four qualifier events and a two-day championship, which was here last September,” said Mike Vandenberg, president of Renegade Bass Tour.

This year, the winning team will receive a Bass Cat Boat from Mercury Marine. Vandenberg is thankful for the multiple sponsors that make the event possible.

There are currently 76 teams competing from all across Eastern Ontario. The third qualifier of the season will take place on the St. Lawrence River in Morrisburg on July 21. The top 40 teams after the four qualifying competitions will continue on to the two-day championship. Each team enters their five biggest bass fish of the day to be weighed, and the heaviest fish determine the winning teams.

“It was a little tough,” said Vandenberg about the competition on Saturday. “The week was very promising with the warm stable weather…but we had a little front come through on Friday that stirred things up.”

On July 7, Clancy Mulvihill and Jeff List finished first with a total weight of 22.06 lbs.
