CORNWALL, Ontario – A man suffered non-life threatening injuries after sustaining a gunshot wound to his upper torso. The male attended Cornwall Community Hospital on July 31.
The victim was later released from hospital after treatment.
The Cornwall Community Police Service (CCPS) Criminal Investigation Division detectives are actively investigating the occurrence.
They believe the matter to be an isolated incident and that the public is not at risk.
“The investigation is in the early stages, all avenues are being carefully explored. At this stage of the investigation we would not like to speculate on the circumstances as it may compromise the integrity of the investigation,” stated Staff Sgt. Maxwell in a media release.
CCPS is asking the public to come forward with any information to Sgt. Joseph at (613) 933-5000 ext. 2422 or 2404 to leave anonymous information.
