Cornwall man arrested for stealing from several stores

CORNWALL, Ontario – Brian Kirkey, 59, of Cornwall was arrested on Sept. 16, 2018 and charged with the following:

  • Theft under $5000 x 3
  • Drive while disqualified x 2
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Flight from police
  • Breach of probation x 4 (for operating a motor vehicle & failing to keep the peace)
  • Resist arrest

It is alleged on June 16, 2018 and again on Aug. 14, 2018 the man attended a Ninth St. store and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. After exiting the store on Aug. 14, 2018, the man allegedly drove in a dangerous manner on Ninth St., while being disqualified from doing so, and failed to stop for police. Further, on Sept. 16, 2018, the man allegedly attended a Second St. E. store and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he exited the store. The man was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and a struggle ensued. Police attended and the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
