CORNWALL, Ontario – The OSPCA announced that it would be sending its mobile spay and neuter clinic to Cornwall.

The clinic will be at the Cornwall Civic Complex on Thursday, Oct. 4 and Friday Oct. 5. The clinic will offer a surgical examination, the spay/ neuter procedure and a cone if needed. The procedure is $150 for a dog and $90 for a cat. For an extra $20, the clinic will also do a wellness exam of the animal.

“This mobile spay/neuter clinic is a critical initiative in the ongoing efforts to reduce pet overpopulation in Cornwall,” says Daryl Vaillancourt, Senior Director, Humane Programs & Community Outreach, Ontario SPCA. “We’re excited to be partnering with the Welland & District SPCA to bring this mobile clinic to the community to make spaying and neutering accessible to all pet owners.”

Pet owners have only one day on which they can register for the clinic. Pet owners must register on Friday, Sept. 14 between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in Salon A at the Civic Complex.

Cornwall has had an issue with roaming cats over the past few years. In 2017, the local OSPCA had taken in more than 700 roaming cats.

A by-law proposed by the City of Cornwall administration would require cat owners to spay/ neuter their pets and would consider those who feed wild cats as the owners of those cats.
