CORNWALL, Ontario – On Jan. 9, the Cornwall Regional Task Force (CRTF) observed a boat travelling east on the St. Lawrence River.
Later CRTF sighted a pick-up truck leaving the area where the boat was last seen.
Police later stopped the vehicle and found the driver, Ronald Cook, 42, of Akwesasne, ON to be in possession of 691.5 kilograms of fine cut tobacco.
Cook was arrested for being in possession of unstamped tobacco. The tobacco and the truck, a 2001 Ford F-150, were both seized by police.
Cook was later released to appear in court in Alexandria, ON, on March 6, 2019.
