CORNWALL, Ont. – Trying to grab a police officer’s Taser…what could go wrong?

A 27-year-old Cornwall man is behind bars after police responded to an unwanted person complaint at a Twelfth Street West address.

During their investigation, the man allegedly pushed two officers and attempted to remove a Taser (conducted energy weapon) from one of the officer’s duty belt.

The accused was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Once at police headquarters, the man allegedly grabbed a third officer’s wrist.

Police allege they found an undisclosed amount of marijuana in the accused’s possession.

Devon MacDonald was arrested and charged with resist arrest, three counts of assault police, disarming a police officer, and possession of a controlled substance.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Man chokes girlfriend

A 32-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Thursday (April 21) and charged with overcome resistance.

Police were called to investigate after an argument turned ugly and the man allegedly choked his 31-year-old girlfriend.

He was held for a bail hearing.

No names were released to protect the victim’s identity.

Assault charge laid

A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Friday (April 22) and charged with assault.

Police were called to investigate after an argument led to the man allegedly pushing his 24-year-old common-law wife.

He was held for a bail hearing.

No names were released to protect the victim’s identity.
