Man beaten with hammer, 2 arrested: police

CORNWALL, Ontario – Two men suspected in a violent assault are behind bars after a local man was repeatedly kicked and clubbed with a hammer on Sunday.

According to Cornwall Community Police Service, a 23-year-old man, known to the alleged attackers, was taken to hospital and later released with minor injuries after the October 11th incident.

Police say Jesse Landriault, 23, assaulted the victim several times with a hammer, while Taylor Bergeron, 25, kicked the man.

CCPS was contacted and an investigation ensued.

Landriault turned himself in at police headquarters on Wednesday (October 14). He was taken into custody, charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police later located Bergeron at his residence and took him into custody. He was charged with assault and breach of two probation orders for failing to keep the peace.

Both were held for a bail hearing in a Cornwall court.
