Man faces slew of drug charges after Fourth Street raid

CORNWALL, Ont. – A 29-year-old Cornwall man faces a number of drug-related charges following a raid on Wednesday that closed a marijuana grow-op, police say.

The Cornwall Street Crime Unit searched a home on Fourth Street West on Wednesday (May 4), seizing an undisclosed amount of marijuana, marijuana plants, cannabis resin, and cash.

“There’s always possible safety concerns with any grow-up, whether it’s electrical issues or the distribution of the illegal product,” said CCPS Cst. Daniel Cloutier.

Chris Dupuis was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of cannabis resin, possession for the purposes of trafficking marijuana, possession for the purposes of trafficking cannabis resin, production of marijuana, production of cannabis resin, and property obtained by crime.

He was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

Woman jailed after alleged theft attempt

A 32-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and failing to keep the peace on Wednesday (May 4).

Cornwall police allege the woman was caught shoplifting at a Ninth Street store. A loss prevention officer detained the accused until officers arrived.

She was also taken into custody on outstanding warrants.

Dawn Lapensee was held for a bail hearing.
