CORNWALL, Ontario – A Cornwall man took off in a stolen car, trying to elude police before smashing into another vehicle, and finally getting caught after a foot chase.
Police said the man was spotted Monday in the area of Marlborough Street and Victoria Avenue in a stolen vehicle by Cornwall officers. The man careened out of the area and struck another vehicle, causing it to fly into a Gloucester Street porch.
The man fled the vehicle on foot, but was caught by police a short distance away.
Gerald Poistras, 48 of Cornwall was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, drive disqualified, possession of property obtained by crime and breach probation for failing to keep the peace.
He was held for a bail hearing.
