Massena’s Zach Bogosian now playing closer to home

CORNWALL, Ontario – Zach Bogosian, an NHLer born and raised in nearby Massena, N.Y. is now playing a lot closer to home.

Bogosian and Evander Kane were traded by the Winnipeg Jets to the Buffalo Sabres Tuesday in a multi-player deal.

Bogosian was drafted third overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in 2008. The Atlanta franchise moved to Winnipeg a few years ago.

Buffalo is a few hours drive west of the Massena area.

Bogosian was born to Ike and Vicky Bogosian in Massena, a town of 13,000 people well-known to Cornwall and area residents. He is the first NHL player of Armenian descent.

He has 13 points (three goals) so far this season.
