CORNWALL, Ontario – Police say cab fare was not a motive when an intoxicated man repeatedly punched a Cornwall taxi driver in the head.
Early Saturday morning, a local cab driver dropped off a 24-year-old Maxville man and a female passenger in Cornwall, police said.
Police say an argument erupted into violence when the man struck the driver several times with a closed fist.
Const. Daniel Cloutier said the man’s motive wasn’t money, but he couldn’t confirm if the driver was paid before or after the alleged attack.
The driver sustained minor injuries.
Justin Villeneuve was taken into custody and later released to appear in court on Nov. 4.
