CORNWALL, Ontario – A Cornwall man enjoyed a brief moment of freedom, before the long arm of the law reached out to grab him.

The man is accused of robbing a Second Street East store of some meat Tuesday. He fled the store after being approached by the loss prevention officer.

Police spotted the man a short distance away and he was taken into custody following a short foot chase. He broke free of the officer at one point and ran again.

Later the man was caught by the police at home.

Jeffrey Leblanc was charged with theft under $5,000, escape lawful custody and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. He was held in custody to appear in court.

It’s not known if he had enough time to eat the meat.
