MOONLIGHT RIDE: Taking it on the road

CORNWALL, Ontario – With the full moon lighting up the night sky, this week, the timing was perfect for local music duo, Moonlight Ride, to premier, to the public, their first original song, Rushing for Red Lights.

The congenial pair, Art Levert, on guitar, and Mike Pilon, on percussion, who have been playing out together, in and around the area, for the last year, are looking forward to even more of that, taking their act “on tour.”

Some of us remember Levert from the “gentle jam” open mic nights he hosted in the early 2000s, at then-called Papa Gedoro’s (now Schnitzel’s). He would follow that with a band called Frasier Creek, which played in and around the area for a stint.

Pilon, who says that his love of drumming started at the tender age of three, “banging on pots and pans,” met Levert, a couple of years ago, when they began playing in a band together. The band didn’t last, but their friendship did, and the rest is history.

Performing what Levert calls “crowd pleasing music,” like the Eagles, Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Van Morrison, Dwight Yoakam. … Classic Rock, Country, Blues,” they are hoping to add many more originals to the show, as time goes on.

In the meantime, check them out at www.facebook.com/pages/Moonlight-Ride/685506898187017?ref=ts&fref=ts.
