CORNWALL, Ontario – Motorcycle enthusiasts cruised the countryside for critters on Saturday, Aug. 25, fundraising for the OSPCA of SD&G.

The sixth annual event drew 30 riders after a few hours of commencement. Participants could ride if they donated $25, or they could ride for free if they raised more than $25 in pledges.

“It’s a great way to ride and raise some money for a good event,” said Dave Coulas, this year’s event organizer.

The designated route ventured through Martintown and Apple Hill to St-Albert Cheese, where someone would hand riders a raffle ticket for a small prize lot.

“The main prize is a half day excursion on ATVs for two in Calabogie, given by Tom Irwin Adventure Tours,” said Coulas.

Coulas recognizes that the OSPCA needs community assistance, and hopes to help them out.

“We’re not government funded so we have to fundraise for all of our money. So we rely on the community to help us out with that,” said Julie Davies, Animal Car attendant level 3 at OSPCA of SD&G.

Davies said that funds raised from the event will go towards various things, from cleaning supplies to medications.

“It’s nice weather and it’s a nice day to ride,” said Coulas.

Members of the Road Snakes were present assisting with the event.
