The latest Commitment Award winners at Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) have been described as team members who can ‘move mountains’. And they do! Congratulations to Manager of Health Records Alyssa Waldroff, Dr. Joe Phillips, and the Operating Room Conversion Team which includes Connie McInnes, BJ Casselman, Jillian Sainsbury, Tyler Pilkington, Judy Berube, Debbie Holmes, Lisa O’Flaherty, Kim Wheeler, Amy Lafleche, and Jessica Zanutta.

Alyssa Waldroff received several nominations and each one spoke to her commitment to ensuring patients were the number one priority. As the Manager of Health Records. Alyssa is a champion of teaching and learning, particularly with the implementation of Epic, the new health information system. “She is always quick to share what she knows and is able to problem-solve when something doesn’t work correctly,” her nominators said. “Alyssa puts patient care at the highest priority and inspires those who work with her to go above and beyond for our patients. She is a leader worth following.”

Dr. Joseph Phillips stepped into the role of Chief of the Department of Family Medicine during a challenging time. “He readily took the reins to fill gaps in the schedule and recruit new hospitalists to join the rotation as well. He consistently meets with new physicians to orient them to WDMH and is keen to answer any questions they may have,” explain his nominators. They go on to point out that Dr. Phillips also leads residents both at WDMH and in his clinic and is always coming to help when he is needed and is able. In fact, he has come into the hospital to help with patient overflow when he wasn’t scheduled and will always fill in gaps in the schedule.

When WDMH was getting ready to launch its new Epic health information system, the Operating Room conversion team got to work. This small but mighty team worked tirelessly to convert patient files to the new system. Their nominator noted: “The grace this team showed is inspiring. Evenings, weekends, you name it – the team really pulled through for this hospital and our community. I am so proud to be part of such an incredibly innovative, accountable, flexible, and helpful team. They truly moved mountains.”   Thank you to Connie McInnes, BJ Casselman, Jillian Sainsbury, Tyler Pilkington, Judy Berube, Debbie Holmes, Lisa O’Flaherty, Kim Wheeler, Amy Lafleche, and Jessica Zanutta.

The WDMH Commitment Award shines a light on individuals or teams that demonstrate the values that result in compassionate excellence.
