CORNWALL, Ontario – One person lost their life in an early morning fire on Boxing Day.

Emergency services were called to the fire at around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 26 on St. Felix street between Walton and First streets.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the name of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The fire investigation is being handled by the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office and Cornwall Chief Pierre Voisine told Seaway News that a cause will not be released until a post-mortem has been completed sometime tomorrow at the earliest.

This is the third fire in the City of Cornwall in the past four days.
