CORNWALL, Ontario – In a press release sent out on Monday morning, Ontario Works explained how recipients in Cornwall and SD&G will receive cheques during any mail disruption related to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers potential work action.

“The plan is effective regardless of whether this region is directly affected by any Canada Post job action or not,” the press release reads. “It applies to all Ontario Works recipients including those who reside in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.”

All recipients in Cornwall are invited to pick-up their cheques or Direct Deposit documents from the Benson Centre on Wednesday, Aug. 31 or Thursday, Sept. 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Automotive Room on the main floor.

Recipients in Alexandria are asked to pick-up their cheques and documents at the Ontario Works centre on Wednesday, Aug. 31 or Thursday, Sept. 1 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The same dates and times applies for those serviced by the office in the Winchester area. Recipients can stop by that office at those dates and times as well to pick up their cheques.

Recipients are reminded that they will have to provide appropriate forms of identification such as a birth certificate, driver’s license or a passport.
