CORNWALL, Ontario – A Cornwall woman was unexpectedly confronted by her ex common-law husband in a parking lot, where he threatened to burn down her house.
Cornwall Community Police Service said the incident happened on Tuesday (Nov. 10).
Police say the man also prevented the 43-year-old woman’s vehicle from exiting the parking lot.
The 38-year-old suspect was located at his residence and held for a bail hearing.
He was charged with threats, criminal harassment, and forcible confinement.
No names were released to protect the victim’s identity.
Clear-cut theft?
Cornwall police caught up with a 28-year-old city man accused of shoplifting razors from a Ninth Street store on Oct. 18, nearly a month later, on Tuesday, walking around Eleventh and Sydney streets.
James Labelle was charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.
He was released to appear in court on December 17.
Busted for stealing booze
Cornwall police arrested a 30-year-old man on Tuesday for allegedly stealing a bottle of alcohol from a Second Street East store.
The man was later spotted walking on Sydney Street.
While in custody, police further allege he threatened to harm the officer.
Paul Grant was charged with theft under $5,000, breach of probation for failing to keep the peace, and threats.
He was released to appear in a Cornwall courthouse on December 22.
Assault charge laid
Cornwall police arrested a 58-year-old man for allegedly kicking another man on October 30.
The suspect was located on Tuesday.
Byron Blue was charged with assault, and released to appear in court at a later date.
