CORNWALL, Ontario – The Best Western hosted the fifth annual Posing for Paws, presented by J&A Collision Centre on Friday, Oct. 20.

The event, which raises money for the SD&G OSPCA, saw wonderful clothing lines from the Squire Ship, Schulmann’s, TSE, Echo Trends and Stella & Dot.

The fine fashion was worn by 20 volunteers who took to the catwalk for this great cause. In total, there were over 30 people who came together to make this year’s Posing for Paws pawsible.

In addition to the fashion items, there was also a large range of silent auction items for the guests to bid on which ranged in price up to $500.

Last year, the event raised $19, 000 and event organizers Christina Russell and Angie Savard were hoping to bring in $20, 000 this year.

The event was well on its way, having sold 80 tickets before the event. Last year’s Posing for Paws had 113 attendees and the organizers hoped to outdo that number this year as well.

Russell explained that support for the OSPCA at this time of year is crucial.

“Its huge because as an animal charity we have big costs and those costs are covered by fundraising,” she said. “It is very important to raise money during this time of year. As winter sets in, veterinary costs increase.”

Scotiabank had volunteers welcoming guests to the event at the door. Scotiabank agreed to match funds raised at Posing for Paws this year up-to $5, 000.
