CORNWALL, Ontario – Next Wednesday, while you’re dozing in your comfy bed, crews will be working to repair a section of the power transmission lines that feed Cornwall Electric customers.
The good news is a power outage planned to coincide with the repair work will only last 45 minutes.
The bad news is every Cornwall Electric customer will be affected.
Mike Pescod, general manager at Cornwall Electric, said some deteriorating “skywires” that supply the utility with power, located just east of the power dam, are in urgent need of repair.
“It will improve our reliability for that transmission line moving forward,” he said.
Residents are urged to have back ups for things like alarm clocks to ensure they start their day on time.
City CAO Norm Levac confirmed things like traffic lights and street lights will also be impacted by the outage – so motorists are advised to drive with caution.
