CORNWALL, Ontario – The 2017 Trunk Sale was a great success this year with big crowds coming out on Saturday and Sunday despite the rain.

Every year, proceeds from the Trunk Sale go to support a charity. This year’s Trunk Sale was in support of Rachel’s Kids House of Hope and Dr. Rachel Navaneelan, members of her staff and her children had a table near the entrance and were holding a raffle for a designer handbag. In addition to the handbag, a $3, 000 gift basket was also being raffled.

“We are truly grateful for being chosen as the charity this year,” said Rachel’s Kids Executive Director Kim Lauzon. “The money raised today will be going to the House of Hope and will be staying in our community.”

“This event is phenomenal, we have really been looking forward to being picked,” said Dr. Rachel Navaneelan.

This year, there were 135 vendors at the Trunk Sale, and Debbie Burns, one of the event organizaers explained that the benefit for the vendors goes so much further beyond the event.

“A lot of times, it is not just what they sell, but its also the follow-up,” she said. “We had one person here today to see one specific vendor who couldn’t be here this year, but I have her contact info. We want to make sure everyone does well.”

This year, saw 250 early bird tickets sold. Early bird ticket holders were allowed into the event an hour early and the first 50 through also got cookies and swag bags.

Burns said that the charm of the event was how the charity and vendors both come away happy.

“It is a real win-win,” she said.
