CORNWALL, Ontario – Canada’s newest Canadian Coast Guard helicopter will be stopping at the Cornwall Regional Airport for Father’s Day on Sunday, June 17.

The event, organized by the Cornwall Flying Club, runs from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday and gives Father’s and their families a chance to experience flight in both fixed, and rotar-wing aircraft.

“Based in Parry Sound, Ontario, the new Bell 429 helicopter is a crucial component for delivering Canadian Coast Guard services and maintaining public safety,” said Department of Fisheries spokesperson Carol Launderville in a release to the media. “CCG helicopters are a workhorse of the waterways, flying to remote sites to support construction and maintenance of CCG communication sites, oil pollution response, ice monitoring and support to Government of Canada science programs.”

“Pilot Gary Ertel invites all aviation enthusiasts to come by to say hello and have a close-up look at CG 434,” Launderville went on to say. “This visit from the Coast Guard is subject to operational requirements.”
