MAXVILLE, Ontario — The 71st annual Glengarry Highland Games drew crowds of people, adorned in kilts and plaid, to the Maxville Fair Grounds on Friday, Aug. 3 and Saturday, Aug. 4.

As always, the Highland Games offered several Scottish festivities. From fiddling, piping and drumming, to dancing, tug of war, heavy weights and kilt runs; the Highland Games displayed and preserved traditional events for the whole family to enjoy and part-take in.

With numerous food and beverage stands, artisan and clothing vendors, and a notorious beer garden, the Highland Games is recognized for its vast opportunities and historical preservation.

The Highland Games, one of the largest celtic events in North America, saw attendees from around the globe.

During the closing ceremonies, 1,449 mass band participants marched onto the field to perform in front of packed, cheering grandstands of spectators until next year’s much anticipated return.
