GLENGARRY, Ontario – This past summer’s SD&G OPP Golf Tournament was a success and allowed the SD&G OPP detachment to donate $17, 000 to different youth organizations in Glengarry.
Four organizations received donations on Nov. 1.
The first was the Alexandria chapter of the Jumpstart Foundation which received $4, 000.
Jumpstart provides funding for area youths requiring assistance to participate in sports programs.
Alexandria Canadian Tire owner Dennis Tallon stepped up to the plate and matched the funds raised, bringing the grand total to $8,000.
Le Centre Culturel “Les trios ptits points” also received $4, 000. The Centre presents an annual youth talent contest and the donation will go to this year’s show.
“Art for Joy” is spearheaded by the Alexandria Richelieu Club and will provide funding to youth wishing to learn in the arts (music, theatre…etc) and they received $2, 500.
There was $2, 500 which was presented to the Youth Centre. Falling under the umbrella of the Glengarry Inter-Agency Group (GIAG), the Centre located in Alexandria, provides a safe haven for area youths to attend and partake in healthy lifestyle activities. The funds will be used to enhance programming offered at the Centre.
