UNITED COUNTIES OF SD&G, Ontario – Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Cornwall and SD&G.
In the Winchester to Newington area, that Watch has been updated to a Warning.
“Scattered thunderstorms are occurring across much of Eastern Ontario,” the statement reads. “Many of the thunderstorms are producing small hail. However, isolated stronger storms are capable of giving 2 centimetre hail. Given the cool temperatures and favourable atmospheric conditions, the hail may be abundant and nearly cover the ground at times. The main concern is damage to tender crops and plants.”
Winds up to 90 km/h are also possible.
