CORNWALL, Ontario – Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Cornwall and the surrounding area as of 3:48 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
“At 3:48 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts and up to nickel size hail,” the Environment Canada Warning reads. “This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Westport Sand Lake to Templeton, moving east at 65 km/h.”
Environment Canada says that winds could reach a speed of up to 100 km/h with nickel sized hail being a possibility.
The following areas are listed as being affected: Brockville, Cornwall, Smiths Falls, Prescott, Westport, Murphys Point Provincial Park, Merrickville, Richmond, Rideau River Provincial Park, Kars, Kemptville, Gloucester, Orléans, Russell, Winchester, Morrisburg and Bourget.
According to The Weather Network there is a 100 per cent chance that precipitation with thunderstorms will begin at around 5 p.m. and will continue for a couple of hours.
