Thunderstorms in the forecast for Cornwall.

CORNWALL, Ontario – Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Cornwall and the surrounding area for Wednesday, July 17, 2019.

“A line of showers and thunderstorms extending north of Cobourg to north of Cornwall is moving south,” the statement on Environment Canada’s website reads. “Some of the thunderstorms may produce winds gusts of 60 km/h and local heavy downpours which may give rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm in an hour or less.”

The Weather Network is forecasting thunderstorms and rain for the region at around 4 p.m., but it is expected to clear fairly quickly.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the low thirties in the afternoon with the humidity before dropping to a low of 18 degrees overnight.

On Thursday, expect sun and clouds throughout the day with temperatures in the low thirties with the humidity.
