CORNWALL, Ontario – The City of Cornwall Fire Department responded to a fire at 4:39 p.m. on Sunday evening on Lennox Street.
The blaze consumed the upper floor of one home on the south side of the street and migrated to a neighbouring house.
There were no human injuries, but two pets perished in the fire.
“crews responded efficiently and gain control of the Fire at approximately 8:54 p.m.,” said Cornwall Fire Chief Pierre Voisine.
Viosine told the Seaway News that the weather conditions made fighting the fire more difficult.
“It was a wind driven fire,” Voisine said. “Wind driven fires are always more difficult.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and one fire truck was still on the scene as of 9 a.m. Monday morning.
